Rapid and Reliable Flood Protection
When assembled, there is a balance of two types of units: pre-fill & self-fill. Many of the modular units will automatically fill with rising flood water as and when the water arrives, creating a heavier barrier that can hold against large volumes of water. These are know as "self-fill" barriers. When the levels drop, these barriers will empty themselves leaving them as they started. A "pre-fill" barrier, is required to be filled with water prior to the flooding to provide an element of weighted resistance against the oncoming rush of water. This can be emptied following the flood using a cap found near the bottom of the red "pre-fill" units.
Flood defence barriers are regarded as both more cost effective and reliable than sandbags as they can be reused more than once while providing a better level of protection. They are suitable on hard standings such as concrete or tar (roads, pavements & pathways). Please be aware that when on uneven surfaces such as bumps or stones that gaps may occur beneath.
Multi-hubs are available for each size to allow for sharp turns which may be required to seal off an area with keys being used to connect each barrier to another. The 0.65m barriers have a key included in the mould meaning only the barriers are required for extended length.
Only the supplied components are needed with no further tools being required for assembly.
All barriers are ideal for household, workplaces, council areas, river banks and also for general spillage protection preventing any drainage contamination.

FloodStop FAQs
Which FloodStop barrier should I use?
Which FloodStop barrier you should use depends on the height of the flood you are catering for. Although we understand it is difficult to know what to expect, it may be useful to look at average floods from previous years or any estimations from authorities. If in doubt, our 0.9m model is the tallest model we offer.
Can I use any of the floodstop items with each other?
Unfortunately not. Each height is designed to work with elements manufactured for that range (e.g. the 0.5m multi-hub is meant for the 0.5m FloodStop barriers). There are exceptions to this where the 0.9m multi-hub can be used with the 0.65m barriers. If you are unsure, please contact the service office at info@emtez.co.uk or +44 (0)1506 430309.
Are FloodStop barriers completely water tight?
FloodStop Flood Barriers are very water tight making use of gaskets to create a tight connection against each other and eventually against a wall or edge at the end however there may be an element of seepage.
How do you set up the FloodStop barriers?
You can find an assembly video by clicking here. If you have any further questions please ask info@emtez.co.uk or +44 (0)1506 430309.
Benefits & Differences
0.5m vs 0.65m vs 0.9m
The three FloodStop options work in very similar ways however the largest element that will dictate which you need is often the height of the expected flood waters.
0.5m FloodStop
- 1000 (L) x 500 (H) x 500mm (D)
- Two people are recommended but one person could manage assembly
- Modular connections to other units for extended lengths & flexible directions
- Weighted elements protect against strong winds & waters
- Can be used as leverage to gain flood insurance
- Durable plastic for reuse
- No further assembly tools required
- Chemical Spill Diversion
- More cost effective than sandbags
0.65m FloodStop
- 1390 (L) x 650 (H) x 650mm (D)
- Integrated connection key for easier assembly (less components)
- Two people are recommended but one person could manage assembly
- Modular connections to other units for extended lengths & flexible directions
- Weighted elements protect against strong winds & waters
- Requires 50% of the units to be pre-filled with water
- Can be used as leverage to gain flood insurance
- Durable plastic for reuse
- No further assembly tools required
- Chemical Spill Diversion
- More cost effective than sandbags
0.9m FloodStop
- 994 (L) x 900 (H) x 750mm (D)
- Two people are recommended but one person could manage assembly
- Modular connections to other units for extended lengths & flexible directions
- Weighted elements protect against strong winds & waters
- Can be used as leverage to gain flood insurance
- Durable plastic for reuse
- No further assembly tools required
- Chemical Spill Diversion
- More cost effective than sandbags

Testimonials
“The project protects a low-lying area that often floods in heavy rain when sewers and storm drains overflow.”
— ABC7 News Anchor
"We are using the system and it is working great; Floodstop is keeping our platform and car park open and safe to our customers and colleagues during recent extreme weather and associated flooding"
— Matthew Lee, First Great Western
“The system we purchased from you for use at our house in Downton has proved invaluable over the last couple of months."
“The barriers were severely tested with flood water during Storm Imogen. Everything worked fine and the house remained dry throughout. We were very impressed.“
